Shower Floor…Again

I’ve posted about our shower floor on here before, and I’m back.

Cliff notes - we had our bathroom gutted and turned a shower / toilet room into a shower (moved the toilet - hired the plumbing separately and no worries there). The tiling, though… The shower floor doesn’t slope evenly to the drain and water pools. Plus, they used grout on the plane change between the floor and walls, and it’s missing pieces. It’s a large shower…I keep reading about waterproofing and I will just die if fixing the floor means the entire shower needs to be re-done.

We have someone coming out Monday to look at it and he mentioned something about not being able to guarantee the waterproofing if he just fixes the floor. I get that - he can’t be responsible for something he doesn’t have control over, but since my husband just doesn’t see this as big of an issue as I do (because I read forums and he doesn’t), what happens when a shower isn’t waterproofed correctly?

Also, if anyone has recommendations for tile experts in Indianapolis, I’d appreciate recos!
