How to lubricate old window sashes

I've got room #3 of my old windows restored (woo hoo!). I re-installed the sashes yesterday. They've got integrated/interlocking metal weatherstripping, which makes the fit very tight. So the sashes are a bit sticky/tight going up and down. Is there a lubricant that I can put on the weatherstripping to make the sashes glide more easily?

Carnauba or even candle wax.

I have a can of SlipIt lube that I bought from Rockler. It is much more expensive than wax or soap but the can does last a very long time. I bought my can at least 10 years ago and still have half the can left.

Paraffin wax does a good job.
