Hi all:

i had two very interesting conversations with Wolf representatives on the phone regarding the blue enamel chipping in their ovens.

The first conversation was about a week ago. i asked the woman i was speaking to if the issue had been fixed. she got a bit defensive (but was still professional) and told me that the issue did not need to be fixed as it was cosmetic only and not functional. it sounded like she was saying what she had been told to say.

today i talked to a different woman on the phone and asked about it again, admitting that i had a previous conversation where they basically told me it was not an issue. she was SO nice and told me she was going to tell me something different so here goes:

1) The chipping was an issue but they have addressed it by making some changes, including but not limited to making the floor of the oven its own piece which can be replaced, by Wolf, if it chips.

2) the reason it chips is because it is made out of ceramic/glass, not Teflon like some cheaper brands, which according to her is safer bc it is less toxic.

3) Even the non blue interiors in the gas ovens have some chipping issues

4) to avoid chipping self clean should be run infrequently, ie once a month

5) do not use cold cloths/water on the interior of the oven while still hot.

my takeaway is this: at least she is acknowledging the problem and Wolf seems to be addressing it the best they can. However, it sounds like there is still a risk of chipping, which is a huge inconvenience even if it can be fixed.

i have seen at least one post on this website of someone who has had to replace the bottom panel of the interior due to chipping 2 or 3 times and is tired of dealing with it.

Any thoughts/experiences/feedback are welcome.

the top of the line m series oven looks amazing but i am scared i will regret spending over $5k on an oven if it has this issue…
