What is YOUR style? The knotty pine and the way the doors are trimmed out has a western feel. Otherwise it's a pretty no nonsense, no embellishments type house. It's a very modern take on western to my eye. Liking or disliking natural wood tones isn't modern or dated it's a preference. This open concept home is a very today style. The starkness of white depends on the white you choose. It's always curious to me how people white wash all wood trim but embrace wood tone flooring 100%. Flooring is A LOT of wood in a home when chosen.

I'm not a huge fan of stained wood trim, but it seems to work in your new home. I would put a runner on the stairs.

What I wouldn't do is a white, white. Off whites that are creamy, a white with a slight green undertone, like B.M. November Rain. My first choice for walls and ceiling would have a pink undertone, like B.M. Atrium. Pine loves pink! Thinking the photo I am showing for the runner, also helps to explain why I wouldn't do a white/white. Finish will be important, too...eggshell rather than the gloss in the photo would be better.

Fireplace: remove the mantel...it was someone's afterthought and it doesn't work.

As for decor, how about the Sundance look?

The wood trim is part of the character and charm of your home. It works.

The wall color is fine for now. It is a nice neutral that will work with most furnishings.

Once you have moved in with your belongings you can decide on wall colors that work with your belongings.

I agree with Jennifer Hogan above. The house looks very nice, just the way it is. White would be too stark, and the wood trim fits the house perfectly.
