Beauties! Sapphire Pillows is a real standout. I do love a heavily corrugated blue.

I see on some variegated hostas, mostly with yellows, there is advice for part sun to maintain the yellow through the season, where more shade makes the yellow fade to chartreuse. On the blue hostas I sometimes see advice for full shade to maintain the blue throughout the season.

Does anyone know if Brother Stefan looks better in part sun or full shade?

Depends on what you like. Some people like that chartreuse on green look (me). Others like that vibrant yellow on green (also me) and some people want that parchment on green (not me) that some yellows get in lots of sun. I don't think BS changes all that much based on the lighting but I lost mine a few years ago. I'd go with the partial sun spot.

and Janet (to replace the unreplaceable NOID which the voles ate).

First is mixed orders from New Hampshire Hostas, Hornbaker Gardens, and Hostas-Store, arrived 2-9 days ago. Top row is Lakeside Zinger (CUTE with part of it sported to Inkwell) and Penny Lane. Middle row is Holar Red Spear, Blue Jay and Carolina Blue. Bottom row is Ice Prancer, Sweetie (soon to be a favorite), and replacement Plantaginea.

2nd is large Hudson Bay from Nee Hampshire Hostas last week.

3rd is Robert Frost from Lowes.

4th is Winter Snow from Lowes.

UndertheOaks Here is a picture of the gigantic oak tree in our neighbor's yard to the south of us. It shades our entire backyard from 10am to 1pm. Each of the limbs is the thickness of a good sized trunk.

Beautiful oak! My oaks are ridiculously tall.

I have my montana 'Aureomarginata' in shade and it keeps the yellow edge all season which I prefer rather than the edge going white.

Shade is good for most blues but certain ones like 'Powder Blue' gets sun in my garden until around 4:00. I am farther north than almost everyone though. Approx. 45 minutes SW of Ottawa.
