Unless you are skilled at genetic modification or willing to undergo a multiple generational selective breeding program, I'm not sure you can actually create or make a plant sterile. There is no plant sterility fairy dust :-)

Really? I would be interested to know who, where and how. Developing plant sterility is typically the realm of botanists in labs or hybridizers out in the field or greenhouse.

I tried removing seed pods from the Moonflower last year, but I still have at least 75 of them coming up now! I realistically have room for 4 of them :-O I've been selling them locally, but I'll probably have to destroy the majority.

Deadheading Morning Glories is next to impossible, too. I tried cutting it all back last year before they dropped seeds, but I still have tons coming up. I'll probably have to destroy the majority of those, too :-(

I guess it's just a widely believed fact (haha). Few, if any of the annuals that I have ever bought from Lowes have had seeds, and I've always been told that "they" do something to sterilize them. My dad always said that they exposed them to radiation, but he never worked at a nursery and is old enough to still be on Facebook so that's probably just a rumor that someone said and now he firmly believes it.

its much easier actually .. the process involves editing super seeding plants from your garden.. and spending the next 10 or 20 years.. killing the seeds that fell last year ...

just ask yourself.. of what benefit is there.. when it seeds so heavily.. sooner or later.. they will lose their appeal ..

there is a spray that will take care of this.. its called round up ... apply per label...
