Window covering help

We just replaced our windows and realized new window coverings for this one won't be easy. The old window had a ledge between the top and bottom windows to mount inside mount blinds. The new window is flush with a vinyl strip between the windows. We want inside mount coverings as the couch presses up against the window. We were originally planning on zebra blinds, but open to ideas for anything as long as they can open.

I thin you can mount the blinds above the windows, although you will cover the arch. How about drapery?

Thanks for your comment. We don't want outside mount blinds and there isn't room between the wall unit and window to mount drapes (also don't really want drapes as the couch will interfere with them)

I agree with not pushing the sofa tight up against the window trim...

I made wooden spacers (for lack of a better term) to hold the sofa legs off the wall.

I get it, when you drop onto the sofa, you push it back against the wall, but a firm block at the legs will hold it off the wall.

Speaking for those who can help, maybe you should post another photo or two.

We need inside mount for various reasons.1. space between wall unit and window(nil) 2. Toddlers. 3. Moving the sectional would change how it centers in the room 4. Toddlers

The new window is flush with a vinyl strip between the windows.

Sounds like you think inside mount is not possible due to the vinyl strip -- or correct me if that's wrong. Can you clarify what your question is?

Yes, I am trying to find a solution that is inside mount. With the odd shape at the top, I'm not sure how to make it work. The blinds on the last window were only the lower windows, but were mounted to a small ledge between the windows. The new window doesn't have that ledge

A roller shade inside mounted at the top corners will work. With roller shades, you have the option to have the shade mounted "over" or "under" -- in your case, you'd need to mount it over. When it drops down, it will clear that vinyl strip that sits flush. Of course you'll still have that small dome part sticking up from the top, which will look a little odd, but there's not much you can do about that.

To clarify, I meant inside mount. But so that the shade drops down in front as it unrolls, instead of the back. Looks like some shade stores call it "reverse roll".

Mounting it like that should help it clear the vinyl strip as it goes down.

on your windows, mounting shades at the top will look kind of like this. so just the arch part will be exposed.

I didn't have the chance to get to it yesterday, but here is what a roller shade might look like. I think the semi-sheer looks much better here, if you're ok with not having full privacy. (look for solar shades -- they come in different opacity levels, colors and textures.)

the thing is, you could buy it long enough to fit the whole window, and choose to mount it at the top or move it down to the lower pane if you change your mind. it will fit either way.

The OP said that toddlers are a concern. Seems to me the top-down mechanisms are easily broken. And accordian shades can get crushed and wrinkled -- unless you can guarantee yours are wrinkle resistant. (IDK if that's a thing?)

Seattle, this company spams the board regularly. Tries to sell their wares on every window thread, with no consideration to what might be best in each individual situation.

    So annoying.
