Digging up Nandina

So I spent yesterday digging up a 25' Nandina hedge that's been growing for 20+ years. What a nightmare. I'm building a new front walkway. It started as individual plants, but coalesced into a solid 25' of roots and stems. I had to chunk out 2' sections at a time and beat the dirt off them once dug up because they were too heavy to lift with all the dirt. I used a shovel and a 3' crowbar. Should have rented a back hoe.

I still have about 3' to go

Hope the recycling people take this

I thought moving the 100lb flagstone pieces would be the hardest part of the project. I was wrong.
