Slow developing trellis project

I started this a little over 3 years ago. Not the bed it's in, just the trellis part. There are three clematis planted at the base, along with an American Rose, a climber and a beauty. The American rose was transplanted early last year. It had been in the ground for 10 years, but in that time the once sunny spot had become shaded by the Japanese maples, so it was time to move it. It grew nicely for a mid season move that didn't get as much root as I would have liked, and I expect it to take off this year. It's the clematis that have been slow to develop. I know the old saying, first year sleep, second year creep, third year leap, but last year they barely reached 2 feet and no blooms. I gave them a good talking to at the beginning of this year and have higher expectations!

I'm just a little impatient to see this trellis filled with rose and clematis blooms. Perhaps it will take another year. :o( Doesn't help we've had an unusually cold and wet spring.
