Fantasy Lux Quartzite

We are finalizing kitchen slabs for our new buils and have found one that we like (Fantasy Lux, pictured below), but just like many others on these boards, I'm worried about getting a marble or dolomite that has been labeled quartzite. I know all of the ways to test the stone out, but of the 3 locations that we have seen Fantasy Lux, no one has had a sample available for us to take. It does have some very large crystalline pieces in it, so I do believe that at least part of it is natural quartzite, but I was wondering if anyone has had personal experience with this particular stone. All of the different stone yards giving their slabs different names is only leading to my confusion, so I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. Thank you!!

We got a stone by the same name. Been in a couple weeks. The fabricator sealed it twice after lengthy discussions. No issues so far.

I wouldn't do business with any stone yard that would not facillitate in-person testing.

We were told by multiple different places that because the quartzite is so hard, they won't have any samples until the slab is cut- either by us or someone else. It didn't seem like an unreasonable explanation at the time, but still extremely inconvenient. It only seems to be quartzites that we can't get samples of, and so far it's an issue we've encountered with every stone yard we've been to in our area.

Me too! I was planning on actually buying a slab of the fantasy Lux for our kitchen countertops, but would love to know more firsthand information on how it has held up for you!!

Hi,

Do you all have pictures you could share of your kitchen with fantasy lux? I'd love to see them as I am considering this right now with white dove cabinets. Thank you!

Fantasy Lux has held up very poorly for us. Significant edge staining from hand/arm grease slowly entering stone. Stains very easily with water rings despite sealing. Not a true quartzite.

Thank you for posting! Two months ago, I added Fantasy Lux quartzite to my "maybe" list for my bathroom remodel. (See photo of FL slab below.)

Based on your input, I am now leaning toward Mystic Blue quartzite. I have Mont Blanc (looks like Taj Mahal) on my kitchen counters, with no staining.

Edited to add: there is a similar-looking stone that our local slab yard calls Fantasy Macaubus. I am not sure that I can tell them apart in photos.

@bdcole13 What type of finish do you have? I literally just picked this at the slab yard today. Came home to see it in kitchens. Mine is polished.

Polished. If you look around some dealers like this as Dolomite instead of Quartzite. Dolomite is more prone to staining…feels like false advertising in hindsight sight.

@bdcole13 Did you perform a scratch or acid test on your fantasy lux to confirm it was quartzite? A metal key will scratch a mislabeled dolomite but can't scratch real quartzite.
