tbd for tile and hood means who knows what will happen there and fusion makes it easier. why the overhang on 4 sides? show more details abt this island. on the wall you could do a dramatic dark charcoal glossy tile w a wood hood with the lighter counter for example...and with good light from the window that drama taken to the wall w tile could be prove to be a better spot for that.

My photoshopping is misleading. There will be overhang for seating only on the two sides closest to us (furthest from sink) and the counter edge mitered to beef up the island.

I love all the movement in the Invisible Gray! It's definitely more of a statement than the quartzite; will you tire of it? I know it's popular right now, but do you think you can update things around it in the future if your tastes change? And are you prepared for the patina and maintenance of marble? These are all questions I asked myself a few months ago when choosing slabs for our kitchen remodel. I ended up going with Taj Mahal quartzite vs marble, but I would like to use a marble like this in our powder bath when we remodel that. I really like your mood board too; you have great taste so it will turn out well whichever stone you choose!

Thanks for your comments @stiley! Those are the tough questions! I’m worried that choosing the quartzite would be missing a statement opportunity but maybe for the best and in favor of maintenance and style longevity.
