Busy being Fabulous, does look fabulous to me! I am at the point of not expecting daylilies to match the published stats, they never do here. About how often do you match stats??? Another great seedling today, with better performance.

Bowtie Affair is indeed showing all its patterns. Don’t you just get tired of fighting Bermuda? Last year I moved several out of a bed to really work on eradicating the Bermuda. By the time I pulled the roots away from lilies after digging them, I had far fewer fans than I thought. The grass had strangled them and some Bermuda roots had grown right through them.

Sherry - Stats on scape height and bloom size almost always match my Northern bred plants. They match Southern bred plants about 40 percent of the time (rarely ever on plants bred by Floyd Cove). Bud counts very rarely match.

Kate - Bermuda grass is the bane of my existence. It's nearly impossible to keep it out of the beds - even raised beds - here. I worked hard to get it out of my pink bed this Spring, but I have some growing in there again. One tiny piece of the root will grow like gangbusters.

I like Busy Being Fabulous. It's a shame it's not performing for you as well as you'd like. I had an interesting thing happen this year. I had a daylily that I split into two different pots last year when I bought it, and this year one has bloomed for the first time and the blooms are low and almost, but not quite, down into the foliage. The other one has tall scapes well above the foliage and hasn't bloomed yet. They are almost next to each other so sunlight etc. is the same. Being in pots makes this intriquing to me since soil etc is the same. I'm waiting to see what the 2nd one does...........Maryl

Maryl - I really think Busy Being Fabulous doesn't get enough sun where it's planted because supposed shorter daylilies are planted in front of it. I also believe grubs got to it the fall I first planted it.

That is curious about the plant you split faring so differently in pots that are right next to each other. What is the plant?

It's called Pass the Butter (Shooter) a yellow, so not up your alley (or mine either maybe). I think that maybe there might be some spring sickness going on as the scapes on the short one are somewhat thickened and malformed. As you and others have pointed out though, if a plant doesn't work in one place try another. You really never know what could be going on. I like BBF and hope you are able to trial it somewhere else to see if there is a difference.................Maryl

Debra, I like your seedling Jungle Queen x Applique' 1. It sounds like it may be a winner with those stats. I like the color of Aerial Applique.
