Shores of Time, Great Balls of Fire and Yellow Monkey are my top 3. Good pictures of them in particular........... Not a fan of the splotchies. I have one that has had two blooms with that exact same problem. From a distance though, as you noted, you don't notice it as much..............Maryl

Beautiful one of Shores of Time. Empire of Desire is interesting, and I love Pick Up Lines. Such a shame about Gee Six, you really can't tell fron a distance. Usually deep colors are what have the problem.

I love that photo of Shores of Time! I don't remember you posting it much in the past. Is it new to you, or did you move the one you had to a better place. I need to move my Shores to a better place this year? I moved it two falls ago, and drat - now it's in too much shade again.

I love the name Rumba Numba! LOL The flower looks pretty good too. The colors on Ledgewood's Pansy Eye Grab me. I imagine it will open flatter later in the day. Empire of Desire is showing great carving and lot of buds. Yours looks more gold than mine. Maybe mine is just always a bit thirsty.

More great photos! Empire of Desire caught my attention today……did an up close look…..what is happening around the green areas on the throat, sculpting for lack of a better term? Do the buds always take more than a day to open?

Maryl, I have many that rarely throw a splotch free bloom. Barbara Mandrell comes to mind and some dark purples or the dark ones as Nancy said.

Julia, I liked that bloom on Empire of Desire too. Another smaller one opened today with the same look.

Debra, what a memory you have!! No, I have not often posted Shores of Time because blooms were so splotchy. I moved it last year to a better spot although it now gets afternoon shade. Much cleaner blooms however.

I love the color on Killer. I also like Yellow Monkey (I like the shape) and Wispy Rays. We grow Wispy Rays, but it has never done very well for us, even after we moved it.

Nancy I hope you check back in here. Was your Wispy Rays registered height? Mine is always so short and the blooms are in the foliage. I like the looks of the bloom but wish they were taller.

Very nice variety of colors, Kate. Ledgewoods Pansy Eye is quite interesting and very pretty: it does look pansy like! I also like Wispy Rays, Shores of Time, and Killer.

Killer is my favorite. I have several of these blooming too, and ones like Wispy Rays has been and will be in my garden fro a lot more years. Are your temps cooler than the 90s here? Balls of fire and Numba Rumba are RED here yours, while lovely look more wine. And I know you shared those wit me, so it is puzzling. Yes, I see why you don't like Like a Gee Six, I have one that does that all the time too. If it doesn't straighten up, it will be leaving too. Quite a disappointment.

And I do like Yellow Monkey!

Brad, I have Ledgewoods Pansy Eye and Carolina Pansy Eye and they are planted close together so I sometimes have to check which ”eye” I am looking at.

Kay we are in high 80s with ”feels like” temps in the 90s. And that is why those blooms do not look red. The pictures were taken at sunrise on a cloudy morning. When the sun hit them they were red!!
