Galley Kitchens!

Show me your galley kitchens please. I’m always looking for more inspiration. Bonus points if you have a peninsula😉

Not mine but sure wish it were.

I had my galley kitchen renovated a few years ago. I chose “Plain & Fancy” custom cabinetry, made in Pennsylvania. I have Silestone quartz, color: charcoal soapstone countertops, no seams. The distance between my counters on either side is about 8 feet. This area gives my husband and me lots of room when we are both preparing meals. On one side is my sink, dishwasher and gas range. The other side houses 3 bays of 3 sets of drawers below, and above are cabinets that extend to the ceiling. Between the 2 sets of counters is my fridge.

I love the kitchen posted by L A. It reminded me of this bathroom photo I had saved. I could instantly picture it outfitted as a galley kitchen.

Here’s mine. Wide galley. No peninsula.

If it has a peninsula, can it still be considered a galley? Is Kculbers' lovely kitchen really a galley? Once Darbuka adds the 3rd wall of cabinetry, is it still a galley?

Unless it's on a boat, isn't a galley kitchen just two parallel walls?

@Fori is correct. A true galley does not have a peninsula, or a third wall that encloses the room.

What you cannot see in my photo with the pantry cabs and the white double doors to the dining room, are the openings on either side. To the left of the pantry cabs, is the entry to the laundry room and 1/2 bath…which is completely open, no door (except for the bathroom, of course). To the right of the dining room doors (and double ovens), is a hallway that leads to the front door, den, and hallway to the bedrooms. So, that wall Fori mentioned, does not close off the kitchen. It’s just something you pass on the way to the laundry room, and and/or main hallway. It was the perfect place to install 12” deep pantry closets. It is a true galley kitchen.

Wide galley with a penninsula = not a galley. But what do I call it then?

Thx all for sharing. Guess I should have been more specific. In my kitchen we are planning to open the wall on one side about 6 ft in the top and have just lowers. Hence a peninsula? I do t know what else to call it🤷‍♀️

Is this what you are thinking of? Our range counter is 39" deep. I wish we had done the same for the sink counter, although I do like having the width when DH and I are both in there. We put the extra drawers on wheels to hold our counter steam oven. Unless we roll them out of the kitchen, I'm not sure it's a galley. 😉
