Help update my bedroom

I need a large nightstand with storage. Also, I would like to add more color. I would like to replace my trunk at the foot of the bed with a "hope chest". I like the quality of Pottery Barn and Ethan Allen and welcome suggestions for products available from

Houzz. My bed will remain.

What a lovely room! Can you tell us how much space you have for nightstands on either side of the bed? Also, are you looking to replace just one nightstand?

Yes. I want to replace 2 small nightstands with one large one and place it on the left of the photo.

I have 36 inches of space between my bed and the wall. I could use a nightstand that is 29 inches tall.

Ilike this one, but not sure if it goes well.

My instinct is to go with a light finish in your room.

Your room reminded me of this photo I had saved below. I like your dove art on the left, and think bringing in that green elsewhere would add some bright color.

You might shop second hand stores for a chest you can paint to match the bed, or in an accent color like that fun green! Make sure the top of the chest reaches mattress height.

Agree with @decoenthusiate that an antique piece would complement your stunning bed. It has so much personality that I would refrain from shopping on the popular modern websites (Overstock, Wayfair) unless something really, really looks good. Check out FB marketplace and Craigslist. Look for garage and yard sales this time of year. Go with a measuring tape!

The bed is so critical to the feel of your room. Look for a unique lamp too.

Do you have recommendations for a lamp? I don't have a clue.

A first thought is something in a soft brass or even a black wood base. But I would find the dresser first.

Keep in mind that if you like to read in bed, the lamp needs height. I like the look of the black lamp in the last photo from ffpalms but it would not give you good reading light.

I have two 36” antique glass lamps by the sides of my queen bed. They’re neutral enough to not compete with other design features in the room (in your case, the fabulous bed).

The wall behind your bed could be painted an accent color….to sort of unify all that is happening there…while adding a little shot of color

I found two solid wood nightstands for my room.

Looks great… I would suggest you look for a lamp that is adjustable… one that swivels and goes up and down.,. This will allow you to adjust it for reading…sitting up with your I/ pad or phone… or laying down to scroll thru a magazine… rather than just shine in your face

Great idea. I have ordered a few things. A bed skirt, a transitional style pillow a few other items. I am going to take the trunk out completely.

The white lamps is going away.

If your bed has wood side rails I would skip the bed skirt…

and I like the idea of the simple but fluffy duvet… so easy to make in the morning… as to the headboard one long round stuffed pillow is a good backdrop for your bed pillows and for back support when sitting up

Love what you came up with. That lamp is perfect. The new nightstands and the art next to the window bring it all together. Lovely space.

Thanks. I would never have thought to use white nightstands, but I love them!
