Issues with peeling & staining Leicht BONDI cabinet fronts

Wondering if anyone else has experienced issues with staining or peeling with the Leicht BONDI cabinet fronts. We completed a major kitchen remodel in the Spring of ’21. We were initiallly thrilled with the design, installation & quality of our cabinets. However, after less than 1 year the cabinet fronts have begun to peel at the corners & are covered with grease splatters that can not be removed with mild soap & water. We had done a good bit of research before going with Leicht and had not come across these issues in any reviews or articles. Wondering if we just had terrible luck with the colour, finish or batch or if these are common issues with Leicht cabinets.

What is the material? Fenix, thermofoil, or paint? Why did you choose matte finishes, when those are well noted for grabbing oils and not letting go?

I believe they are thermofoil but there is very little manufacturing detail on the Leicht website or in our warranty information. We chose the matte finish based on our aesthetic preferences. i expected hand prints but I’m a bit OCD so i didnt mind the idea of regular wipe downs. What i was not prepared for is the permanent staining or peeling corners. We were assured by the inhouse Leicht designer that Bondi was a top seller & adequate choice for our situation (avid cooks with young children).

Do your cabinets have a warranty?Contact the company, they must have a customer service phone number.

i could not find a customer service number or email for Leicht, my understanding is that claims must go through the distributor. The cabinets have a 5 year limited warranty (does not include labour, at the discretion of the company, they do not garantee a match in colour). After some back & forth the distributor agreed to replace the peeling cabinets if we cover labour costs. The staining has not been acknowledged as an issue.

The worst grease spots are predictably near the stove. However in conjunction with the designer we followed the specifications for external venting & recommended cabinet distance from the stove. i also regularly wipe down the cabinets & clean the exhaust grates to try to avoid a build up.

The 5 year warranty was a concern for me as well but I read consistently positive things about the quality of these cabinets & honestly did not expect to use it.

Have your defects with Leicht been resolved? We found their customer department very unhelpful and unwilling to do anything. We have a fitted kitchen that was installed by a developer and now out of their warranty so will have to take it up with Leicht who have a 5 year one

I did not find a way to contact Leicht directly. After a bit of back and forth with our local distributor we were able to resolve the issues at no additional cost. Your best bet is probably to find out which local distributor your developer used and contact them for assistance. We’ve had our kitchen in place for 2 years and are otherwise satisfied with how it has held up to kids, pets and heavy use.

    Hello,

I´m having the same issue!and my kitchen is also Bondi Carbon Grey. Did you get any solution?

After some back and forth with our local distributor, we were able to resolve the issues at no additional cost. The local distributor replaced the panel above the stove at no cost and solved the issue with the peeling on the island by installing a metal footplate. Your best bet is probably to find out which local distributor your developer used and contact them for assistance.

Has anyone found a way to contact Leicht directly? My distributor has gone into radio silence relative to certain issues. It is ridiculous, particularly given the amount that we paid for these cabinets. Never again.

Hi, my Bondi doors are showing "chips" numerous door fronts replaced but still happening - should I allow them to keep replacing?
