Where do you enjoy family time and TV. Are you collectors, readers (of books, not Kindle,) have young or teen kids? Where is the entry in relation to this space?

It's a lovely room. How about making sure you use it? Every Friday night, set the table lovely for a special "date" night!

Yes, I think you need to make a conscious effort to get out of the kitchen and in to this room. The table is set and ready to be enjoyed. Let breakfast and noon be in the kitchen and all evening meals here, no matter what is on the menu. When company is over, set up drinks and munchies in here if a full meal is not being served to them so they, too, can see what a nice part of your home this room is.

It is very nice.....but if you don't and WON'T use it for dining, i would certainly turn this room into something else. A Library/Lounge area! Sectional couch and maybe a game size table in the room somewhere. You could build in some floor to ceiling bookshelves for books and pretty decorative items that you already possess.
Any musicians in the house? A Music Room with a piano.....
A Billiard Room....pool table and if you need to use the room for a special dining event ever...put a table top on top of the pool table. (Not Beverly Hillbilly Style..but you know what I mean..lol)!

What's beyond those windows? Maybe if you opened that up and let some light in, you would be more inclined to be drawn into that room??

It is a lovely room. I love turning unused dining rooms into combination library, trophy case and office areas. Keep the table and chairs, add 79" book shelves the entire legnth of the wall. Use the shelves to speak about yourself and your interests. The books you read, trophys, photos of places you have been. It is an introduction to the guests you have invited into your home.

Until a change has been made, I would remove the staged table look unless the house is for sale. I also would clear up all the items on the staircase, it looks hazardous;)

If you read a lot convert it into a library ,add a couple comfortable chairs and a nice bookcase .

If not using it. Try big comfy chairs in front of window. Add yr Buddha between chairs on a square chest. Black looks Asian. Add panels to ends of window in shade darker Than walls. Can have a grass cloth look. Change area rug to a round, 6 ft.zebra. Place in center of room. Add drum style chandelier in orange. hang high. Chairs in a fabric in orange and white in a geometric design. Love your chest. Might want to remove some pots to other rooms for same color going though out home. Try sticks on long chest.

Changed mind, keep pots remove all framed pics. They need to be in bedroom.

Add a bamboo plants t each end of chest o fill wall. Declutter all except pots from chest. More of zen feel going.

wall with pic replace with a longer one. Remove item in corner, not needed and not with keeping with your Asian theme. In fact everything that does not serve a purpose. De clutter, you will feel so much better.

Don't put a trash can where you can see it. Put in a pantry. Kitchen has a lot going on. Have a big garage sell.

to me you are all grown up...every one has own space inside the house...everybody uses a kitchen...a dining outside is normal... I would set up a cell phone charging station on the table in the dining room :) to get everyone in... that would be a good start for discussing the use of the room... game room is a good idea cards? monopoly, etc...or e-café....or you may extend you existing more useful area...

I feel the same way and if I hadn't invested so much money into a dining set I would make it a nice open office area. A big glass desk where dining table is located with a wing chair. File cabinets that look like a credenza. Maybe a chair or two facing desk.

Meditation room? Yep...agree with above. If you rotate the table 90 degrees and put a wing chair on the window side, add a laptop and a few desk accessories and you'll have an instant office. Would you use it as a computer room? Reading/library room? I think we all rarely use these "designated" rooms. I was at my MIL house and she lamented that she rarely used the formal sitting room. I proposed we all adjourn to the space with our coffee and she thoroughly enjoyed sitting in her "special" place.

Love the library idea. What about a nice dropleaf table that could be used for large dinners when needed. Put built-in shelves to dress it up and use it as an office/computer area on a daily basis. We have chairs around the house to use when we have extra company.

Have you thought about a billiards dining table? These clever antique tables easily convert from billiards table to dining table. Much more fun than a standard dining table!
