Beautiful, Steven! It’s beginnning to look a lot like high rose season. Albertine is a classic. Thank you for the photos! My great great grandmother was named Albertina. I love the beautiful, antique name and the delicate, antique blooms of this hundred-year-old Wichuraiana climber-rambler! Carol

Oh Sheila! Now that's how to grow a rose! Doesn't that just make your heart go pitter-pat! Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking.

Sheila is right- Albertine has enough sharp, hooked prickles that it's not easy to handle, even with gloves. Getting smacked in the head with an errant cane is no fun. I'm glad I wear glasses too, for what it's worth! I'm putting my Albertine into a deceased Newport Purple Leaf Plum. The trunk is still nice and solid (died last year) so I'm hoping Albertine will be able to be a semi-self supporting haystack at some point. It may cloak the dwarf burning bush (invasive Euonymous) nearby and I'll be okay with that. 

I'm enriched to have this historical rose in my own garden and look forward to its enduring beauty.
