I agree that the ceiling color looks off with the Chantilly Lace. Budget permitting, I think a change would be good (but I don't think it looks so bad that you couldn't live with it if budget were a major concern; I think that once the room is furnished it won't seem so in your face).

If it were me, I'd probably change the wall color, as I find Chantilly Lace to be a bit stark/cold. But it's your room and your vision.

I like it. go w/the same color on the ceiling. I usually just use the base 1 white w/a bit of plain white drops added to it. it's a nice bright white.

no one has to use the same ceiling color in every room. that's silly.

Thank you for all the replies! so first, @cawaps i shouldve clarified thay they havent painted the ceilings yet 😀 and i have no idea what color the ceiling paint is. & i know its not for all, but i love Chantilly Lace so definitely will stick with it for the walls.

@Beth H. :i think you’re saying go for the same coordinating Chantilly Lace ceiling? or are you giving me a custom formula? i’ll be buying from BM…can i just tell them that & they’ll Understand ?

we did the other BRs in that SW ceiling bc we had leftovers from before and figured save the $$ & in those rooms the ceilings are not as ”noticeable” as this Master so they look fine.

Paint the ceiling Chantilly Lace in flat finish. Once I choose a white, I use it for all surfaces to be painted white...just use the appropriate finish.

G. lol. no magic formula. I just use the base 1 white (have them add a couple squirts of plain white into the can and mix. no other tints or colors) I use this because it's a plain, bright white.

or, just use the Chantilly, but you may have to do a diff sheen. I use flat or eggshell on the ceiling. eggshell on walls.

I vote for Chantilly Lace in flat for the ceilings. We have Chantilly Lace on all our trim in semi gloss and Chantilly Lace on the ceilings in flat and I love the way it looks on the ceilings. Good luck!

So…another question. Last room - it’s west facing with south & west windows…a lot of afternoon sun light.

I wanted this room to have ever so slight off-white contrast to the Chantilly Lace trim and thought maybe White Dove. The wall sample looks too yellow to me. I considered Paper White, Cloud Cover and White Wisp, but also taking note of Lori’s rule of at min difference of 0.2 chroma with trim color (Chantilly Lace).

Another important note is that the hallway just outside which is the majority of the main foyer and entryway is in SW Crushed Ice so also don’t want it to clash with it or even look too similar.

Any suggestions?

Don't use white dove. I painted my walls with it and it was hella-dingy! repainted w/Simply White. so much better. (I also did my trim w/it) you will see a natural difference between the eggshell and the semi gloss finish. both of these are Simply White, but the trim looks brighter. it's just because of the reflective quality in the finish.

You could try White Heron. Cheating Heart is another great color if you want some real contrast

U mentioned Crushed Ice. I have the walls in the kitchen painted Light Pewter. it's the same ballpark as crushed ice.

you can see it here on these two walls. Again, Simply White on all of that trim. (cabinets were supposed to be that shade but they did a lacquer conversion and went one shade whiter, I think) IRL they look identical.

Another vote for flat Chantilly lace on the ceiling in your bedroom.

What are you labeling as wall and ceiling? With these angled ceilings, the angled parts can be considered as ceiling or wall. Not as big of a deal when you are using the same color! I would probably only do the flat finish on the top rectangular flat section.

About the other room - a southern exposure emphasizes yellow which is why White Dove is looking a little yellow. In a lot of rooms White Dove would look slightly gray. I have used Paper White in a southwest facing room which got pretty intense sunlight part of the day. It is very slightly blue and gray which should work, give it a try. It's a very subtle color that does look different depending on the time of day. I loved it in my room and would use it again.

Susie Q and elcieg (and others), which BM flat formula, for ceilings, in Chantilly Lace do you suggest?

I'll have BM Advance Waterborne semi-gloss woodwork (including crowns) in CL. Walls will be some TBD BM paint in eggshell. My painter wants to use BM Regal Select--not Aura--I assume because I have lots of walls to cover, and it's the mid-level for cost.

He also suggested a very cheap, ultra-flat (says coverage is great) paint for ceilings called, SW "CHB" (Chicago Home Builders paint--only available in the Midwest). It's used by builders, often for large-scale new construction on ceiling and walls.

Or, he said, for more money ("But why spend it?") he'll use BM "Ben" flat paint in CL. I hesitated saying "yes" to either and asked why he wouldn't want to use BM's Waterborne Ceiling formula in CL? He made up a side-by-side test board of SW CHB (always an ultra-flat white) and BM Waterborne Ceiling formula in flat CL. I propped the sample up on a ladder and stared at it while reclining. Hate these decisions. I don't want to redo the ceilings any time soon, so I want good coverage and a nice tone match to the CL trim. I'd say the SW CHB appears slightly "bluer" or more grayish.

If I do insist on Benjamin Moore tinted to CL to be safe, is their "Ben" formula too cheap or not as good for ceiling coverage? I'd rather spend more on paint than extra labor for multiple coats, regardless of brand, but ultimately I want it to match as best as possible. I know plane and sheen differences affect color perception. Thanks for any advice.
