Oh Sherry, I am so sorry. After seeing what the heat has done to my mid season plants I feared what you guys might see. Hopefully this heat will let up after this week, we all get rain if needed, and blooms improve for all. Bud drop has also been a factor this week. i am not doing a very good job of talking you down am I?!!!!

I am seeing some bud drop too. We got about 4" of rain almost 2 wk ago, most of my plants still look good. A few of the smaller plants are starting to yellow, despite me watering. I had to dig up a new plant, Davi's Dilemma. I was getting crown rot. I think I got to it in time, lost a fan, but still have 2. Going to try potting it and putting it in the shade. I went to a friend's open garden last Friday. She got a downpour that lasted at least 30 min. I know southern Nashville apparently got it too. What happened to me? Zip. Grr...

Heat without rain is the very devil on daylilies! I am so sorry...I Hope you get a shower soon. Watering just isn't the same for them, is it? Surely this won't last!

I am right with you on the ledge. We have not had any rain for quite some time and the ground is rock hard. I will have to water regardless of the forcast for rain tomorrow. The threat of downpours does not help as the water will run right off. It made it to the 90s today and not a cloud in the sky.

It was over 100 today, but we are supposed to drop into the high 80's Sunday. That's what passes as a cool spell here - and I'll take it........My Orange Smoothie is currently loaded with buds. Best year since I bought it. The bloom substance seems to hold alright for me in late afternoon shade, but the color is a paler melon color by nighttime with this heat. Hopefully yours will adjust as it had done pretty good for me in our heat over the years:

Sherry: I'm sure things will ease up. It was hot and humid here for awhile and then it got cooler and then its back to humidity again. Only one daylily continues to bloom here and the others are taking their time which is okay with me. We are suppose to get more rain tomorrow and Thursday but they have been wrong before.

I'd like to talk you off the ledge, but I've been depressed myself about the weather conditions. Welcome to the world of global warming. I fear it's only going to get worse. I am a pessimist, you know. You should listen to the optimists in our group. I was especially saddened this morning to see a raised bed that my new hoses won't reach has more than half the daylilies with dying foliage. So sad.
