A pic would help. After my ITOHs bloom, they don't really grow any more that year. And they're known to sulk after being disturbed. Was it bare root? A first-year plant from bare root will be tiny. How big was what you planted? What are other peonies doing in your zone? Are they pushing out new growth or pretty much done for the year? As long as the leaves are healthy, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for your help Steve. Below is a picture, although I find it looks bigger in the picture than in reality,lol It was not a bare root, it had leaves when I purchased it. I also attached a photo of when I bought it, it's a little hard to see though. I feel like it hasn't grown at all the last couple of weeks.

It may be done leafing out for the year and (hopefully) putting all that energy into growing strong healthy roots for next year.

We'll go with that theory, it sounds like a good one to me :)

Steve, I have 20 year+ Modesta Peony…….it barely blossomed at all. One the other hand, my 3 year old Monsieur Jules Louie, bloomed liked crazy. Go figure…….
