I assume you mean you're replacing the wrought iron supports with square columns. My advice is to make sure whatever outdoor lanterns you buy are 1/3 of the front door's height both for the door and garage. I would add new garage doors to that upgrade plan.

Yes I meant the wrought iron. I did plan on painting the shutters front door and possibly garage area this Carolina Gull color from BM. Any thoughts on that?

I like the Carolina Gull color, but you really need to replace your front door and garage doors to get rid of the faux paneling effect. Look for something that has a row of windows across the top.

You could remove them, clean them up and spray paint matte black. (But I’m known for being a thrifty do-it-yourselfer)

because of the out let placement on the garage you need lights that go up the same way those do not hang down. keep that in mind. you could probably pull off the panels on the current door and just fill the holes and paint. I would look into that. I would paint the front door the bold color and paint the garage doors to blend away a bit. I dont think you need a new front door. just paint it.

Consider painting your post light black. and do change that with the rest.

also that green would just make the roof more predominant, so I would not do that. I would remove the shutters, at least from that bay window. do not put columns put posts. paint the front door a classic black or something dark that pops. give your house and roof a power wash.

Thank you for the recommendations! Are you suggesting pulling that white paneling off above and in between the garage doors? You mentioned pulling off the panels on the current door and fill the holes. The door is solid with the decorative trim. Looks like the decorative trim on the face of the garage matches the front door. Can you clarify your recommendations for this eye site of a garage

Do not do down facing lights on your garage they will hang too low and look awkward

I was saying to pull the decorative trim pieces off of the garage door and then would fill the holes from that and then paint those garage doors especially if you’re on a budget that would be may be a way to curb having to get new ones

I am wondering what’s behind that paneling that you could always just paint it out whatever trim color you end up going with

Do not go too contemporary on the fixtures, but more transitional. I agree with seeing if you can remove that decorative trim from all your woodwork including front door, garage, under windows.

I do not want to go contemporary. If we remove the decorative trim and paint garage and front door……or get new garage door and front door what color would you suggest? We are going to purchase transitional black light fixtures.

What do you think about the black wall lamps we suggested above?
