I think the white shiplap looks nice. If you paint it black, the white toilet will be highlighted against a black background…rather it blend with the white background.

It definitely needs to stay white. I see no upside of black. If you want it to matchy match with the window paint the window white.

I like making powder rooms dramatic—go for it! Your floor is light which will help it from being cave-like. Plus that great wallpaper. A friend of mine has an all-black bathroom that’s so glam and hip. My powder room is dark chocolate and I have framed art covering the walls. I always read that designers say to make powder rooms a fun jewel box since folks only spend a bit of time in there.

I honestly would paint the window trim like the whire shiplap and if you want that black and white to be a bit more dramatic do a black mat and black accessories and be done.

Use a more dramatic wall paper that would add some interest to the room. Depending on the wallpaper you use, you could paint the window trim a new color.

I think the black ( actually the trim looks more like a charcoal than true black ) would look great! You could also introduce some color and do a dark blue ( paint the window trim as well ) . Have some fun with it!

I agree that the window does not look black. Maybe take one of the drawers from the vanity to get it color matched, so that the painted shiplap won't look like a different color.

Is the shiplap short of reaching the left side of the wall? If so, black will only emphasize that. Plus your vanity would be 'lost' in front of it if you intend to paint all of it black.

I would paint it black, or charcoal - whatever would best match the doggie outlines in the wallpaper. (Hard to tell from the photos, but you could get some blackish paint swatches and match the wallpaper using the light in your bathroom.) You could always paint the vanity a lighter color, or let it blend in if the blacks match. I wouldn't worry about the toilet being more obvious - it is a bathroom, after all.

I love @Jilly examples but most have white vanities, so her 3rd photo is closest to your room. With your to-die-for-cute wallpaper, I think you could pull off black, even with a black vanity.

There's something about the tone of your white that I'm not liking but that's me. Wondered about a darker off-white or gold tone; that might set off the paper and the vanity?

I love the wallpaper with black. But if it were mine, I’d have to get a black Sharpie and discreetly customize some of those doggies. I see my wheaten in there and he’d have a special collar. His girlfriend would have a heart shaped dog tag. Kinda like where in the world is Waldo. It would give you something fun to do while you’re in there!

I’m going to say something really strange about having dark walls, floors or fixtures in a bathroom. It will easily show the white dust/fluff that comes from toilet paper. Judging from the photo, you use a lot of it. I’m a clean freak and notice that whenever I wipe the walls down in the bathroom, if I use a dark cloth, it’s completely covered with white fluff. Something to think about. Maybe a few black accents will be just enough.

Immcnitt, I had thought of that also. My blinds get covered in fluff from the roll of toilet paper that is right underneath.

I have a lot of black in both my bathrooms. They have to be wiped down anyway, every now and then. Yes, you can see the fluff from this crappy toilet paper, we now have. I have had black vanities and trim in my bathrooms, for years now, and they never used to get all that fluff. I would still paint the cabinets and trim black, again, though, so guess, cleaning cant be that bad.

Bright side? At least with the black you can see all that so you can clean it up. That way when you have company over who maybe dressed in dark color- they won't come out fuzzy! : )
