Hand pick or try insecticidal soap, althouh it may be too late for the soap, It is more effective the smaller they are.

I would def. try to destroy them ASAP to prevent them from maturing and reproducing.

I removed the larvae with soapy water and repotted the seedling immediately. New pot; new soil. I also checked other conifer seedlings for infestation. Thanks all!

They show up every spring here on my mugo pine, I dispatch them, and then I don’t see them again until the next spring.

They practically kill my little struggling shortleaf pine every year before I discover them.

is that why they dont bother the juniper ... and juniper isnt even close to being the same as a pine ....

So the other seeding is a juniper? They look the same to me. Time to pull out the tree field guide, I guess.
