There is no permanent one-time product. Every repellent I have ever seen washes off from the rain or from a sprinkler, though some are more resistant to washing off. Even if you live in an arid climate you still need to apply most repellents once a month. Here are three highly rated spray repellents: Squirrel Mace, Messina Wildlife, I Must Garden Squirrel Repellent.

Are you sure it was the work of squirrels?

Having a nearby resident family of coyotes can keep squirrel population and destruction in check! I also don't worry too much about rabbit damage in my garden :-) The deer appear to be unimpressed with the coyotes......they just laugh at my dog.

But the cat remains an inside dweller and the new puppy is never outside unaccompanied. There are pluses and minuses in every situation.

I use Plantskydd in my garden primarily for the deer but it works on most other pesky garden mammals as well. I use the RTU spray and it is a long lasting oil-based application that doesn't wash off easily. In my dry summer, it lasts a good month before needing a respray.

I think it's more likely the work of rats than squirrels. Maybe time to buy some traps.

No rats…the squirrels are always running on the fence to get up several mature trees.
They use the light wire to grab onto.
