Oh yeah, I hang towels on my oven door - more for function than looks but I try to have decent looking ones. Since I no longer have wall ovens, I remove them when I use the oven otherwise they end up laying in cat hair on the floor. When I did have double wall ovens I had pretty towels hanging on the lower oven that didn't get used all that often.

My oven door is the only place to hang a slightly used towel in my kitchen. Clean, unused ones are in a drawer. Dirty ones are in the laundry.

Mine are on the fridge handles; close ehough to the sink so i can grab one and high enough so the dogs don’t touch them when they walk by. One is frequently flat on the counter where i put washed dishes to drain (we rarely use the machine).

My under-sink cabinet is recessed a bit, so i added a wide pull to it, and that’s where I hang my towel. It’s so convenient! I can’t hang it on the wall oven door, because it is across the room.

Mine hangs from the pull of my clean towel drawer, right next to my kitchen sink. For no particular reason than it feels convenient. I've never used the oven door for a towel - when opened, that would put a hanging towel on my floor. My floors are only reasonably clean.

ETA: I love Lars sense of design and color. It's a little more contemporary than my own but I can still enjoy it. If being completely honest, I would say it would work well in this house that leans more MCM than anything - even if I do have it decorated more traditionally.

Definitely using our oven door for towels - isn't that their second purpose?

Our kitchen is super tiny, I also do not have other options and the oven door is right across from the sink, dish cupboard and bit of counter used for food prep.

Mine are not as pretty as yours marti - just garden variety kitchen towels that get used and abused.

I have a basket on my counter that holds towels, cloth napkins and potholders.they all just get tossed in/on that basket and tugged out when needed.

Don't they stay damp that way, jakabedy?

Ok, ok, Lars, I confess that on a daily basis mine aren’t ‘necessarilly like the pretty ones pictured. When no guests are here, I will occasionally hang a damp “working” towel there to dry.😔 . Which reminds me that I need to replace them, Hmm, expect a few ARE heading toward ”tacky”.

I have the hand towel hanging off the oven door, the oven is in the island and only visible from that side. Otherwise for dish towels, I have a slot in my cabinetry with a rack for hanging dish towels.

Seagrass, your Aussies are beautuful. One of mine , perfect before her cousin golden doodle taught her this one bad habit, will steal a towel to lick if it carrys a trace of food scent. Sorry , Lars, dogs! NOW Ive really made you cringe and you’ll never come to visit again. Not so…I Hope !

Lars, I’m with you! I’m a non-hanger. 😂 I think I just don’t like things hanging, plus I love how my range looks so don’t want to distract from it.😂 I just keep one folded on my counter. When it’s wet or dirty, i throw in wash & get another.

I have one of these slide out towel rack but at Christmas I hang a couple of pretty linen Chritmas towels on the oven as I don't really decorate the kitchen much otherwise,

Countertop for me too. I have a range the towel would be dangling on the floor when I opened the oven, no? No other handles in my kitchen, aside from the refrigerator and the cupboards.

@carolb_w_fl_coastal_9/10 if one is wet, I just lay it over the top of the pile or just lay it out on the counter and it’s dry in no time. A bonus, I think, of living in the high desert with very low humidity.

We have towels over the oven door out of necessity, not decor. I tend to use the bottom oven, so if they are hung on the bottom, they eventually migrate to the top handle. I like the idea of having a basket, but they would probably still end up on the handle...

We have long bar handles on the cabinets...towels hung ALL over the kitchen. One is always handy!

My comment referred to photos taken by professional (?) photographers for real estate listings. I still think that kitchen towels should not be featured in real estate photos. If you want to hang towels on oven door handles in your house, that is fine, but I still believe that they should not show up in real estate listings, just as toilet lids should be closed before photographing. My comment had nothing to do with everyday. casual living - just with staging for formal real estate listings, and the thread where I made the comment was basically about real estate listing photographs. If I am shopping for real estate, I want to see the oven unadorned - not disguised by kitchen towels. But then I am also a minimalist.

Personally, I never hang towels on my oven doors, but then I have proper towel racks inside my kitchen cabinet (below the sink) to hang towels. I think there are many better ways to store kitchen towels than by putting them on oven doors, and I use my oven quite frequently, which means that the towels would be in my way.

A Swiss friend gave me a long, unobtrusive low-profile metal bar with small hooks on it, enough for 8 towels should I be so inclined. It fits precisely under the overhang of my island counter, and is directly behind me when I am standing at the sink. It's perfect, and cannot be seen from anywhere else in the kitchen or the adjacent dining room. My double ovens are a trek across the kitchen; hanging anything from their handles would not work.

I purposely bought a dishwasher with a handle so I could hang a towel from it. My kitchen towels are nice and get replaced at least once a day.

I would remove the towel if I was photographing my house, though.

Oven door hanger. It would be on my DW, except my DW doesn't have a handle bar. My kitchen is small and the towel is just a step from wherever I am. If I'm using the oven, the towel is usually off the bar and in use so I don't have the drag on the floor problem.

Whenever I Zoom, the stove is in the background and I don't remove the towel even then, just make sure it's folded somewhat neatly. It's a kitchen and there's something homey about a checkered or striped towel.

I have never criticized photographs posted here of kitchens that feature ovens with towels hanging on their door handles - that just shows how someone lives everyday. Real estate photos have a different standard. Removing the towels for real estate listings give a kitchen a cleaner and less cluttered look.

Here is a real estate listing a few blocks from my house. Note that you will not see kitchen towels, but they did drape towels on the bathtub, indicating a need for a bathroom towel rack, but there is plenty of room to install a rack under the bathroom window. I'm not sure why they did not do that.

Agree with Lars on photos. I do hang one on oven door while using it but it bothers me the entire time it's there!

I guess it would make sense to hang a towel on the dishwasher door handle, except again, when you open the door the towl will drag on the floor. And anyway, my dishwasher can’t have a handle. The way the kitchen is laid out, a handle on the dishwasher won’t let the drawer next to it open.

I have a basket of clean folded k towels on the counter, and a tin bin on the lower level of the island where they go if they are dirty. No handle on my d/w or fridge.

I do have one on my oven, but it is purely decorative. My range is quite large --- 5 feet wide-- and black, with a stone wall as a backsplash. I think a bit o' fabric is a relief. It has three ovens, and the towel is on the least used oven; the warming oven. It opens like a cabinet door so there is no tisue with the towel hitting the floor.

This is the k towel that is there now, but I have a few faves I rotate in.

I keep towels within easy reach at the sink. Can't imagine needing to open a cabinet to grab one.

Personally I do not like hanging towels on oven door, but partly because my oven is no where near my sink and I don't need to trip over the dog trying to dry my hands, since she is always in the middle of the floor. I don't love the look, but I don't know that my solution of having a towel or two folded on the countertop is any better. I imagine any towels I did hang on the oven (which is a range not a nice wall oven) would definitely get coated in dog hair in my house.

Does anyone have towel holders or bars on the wall in the kitchen? I wouldn't want to have to open the cabinet under the sink to get to the towel, but I like the idea of some kind of hanging bar like hand towels in the bathroom.

Prickly, I added a long handle to the outside of cabinet door under the sink. It’s just the right size for a folded towel. You can’t see it unless you are in the ”U”.

I have 2 hooks on either side of the kitchen window frame just above the tile backsplash. One holds a hand drying towel; the other a dish drying towel.

A little late here, definitley a Marti. Love to find interesting towels, to use. Usually along with pretty solid color towel. One towel on the counter next to the sink and one on the bottom oven door handle. As my grandma would say, they bring cheer to the kitchen. That said, I really do not have any other handy place for my dish towels

In three years, my brother wants to sell our house in Los Angeles and move permanently to Palm Springs. Sony is providing him with an opportunity of early retirement at age 60, and so this will be an option for us three or four years from now.

Although I love our house in L.A., we both like being in Palm Springs better, and at a certain age, I will not want to be driving back and forth so much.
