Another bloom and some garden pics

My plans for today was to get an early start on the mowing on the front lawn before the storm moved in but my garden tractor has decided not to cooperate. I guess I wasnt suppose to do the lawn today and the dealer will come tomorrow to pick it up.

The good news for today is one I had been waiting for to bloom is not what I thought it was.I noticed yesterday the bud looked too reddish to be Carolina Sugar Daddy. I guess i mixed up the labels last fall when I planted.

CATASTROPHE WAITRESS -She sure is dark but love the watermark on it. I took the first pic very early this morning and the second one an hour later. Thank you so much Kay.

So here are some pics of the garden. Different sections or angles. All perennials from last year when I started the bed. Bee Balm, Blanket Flower, Lavender, Phlox, Balloon flowers, Yarrows (2 types). Beards Tongue (Penstemon) was cut back a few weeks ago. I fit as much as I can in my 2 small spaces out front. Hydragea is starting to blooming as well.

Stick in pic is for when Cardnale (Lobelia) . Last year I had to add a support stick it was leaning over so far over the other plants.

That is it for me for today. I know that DEAREST VALENTINE is ready to open tomorrow. Can't wait to see it. Raining here now and for the next couple of hours as the storms pass through. I wish I could send some to all of you who need it.

I agree with Brad-those gardens look well established. That’s what healthy perennials will do for you and boy are they healthy!! I’m with Maryl on the cottage garden look-lovely garden display.

What a great group of pictures.....I like seeing Catastrophe Waitress in another's garden. Kay keeps tempting me with hers.....Your plants are so varied and incorporate the daylilies very nicely. Personally, I like the concept of the Cottage Garden, which is just a mix of different plants creating a riot of color. I think you are well on your way there...........Maryl.

Thank you all for the comments. Rain and a milder winter (nothing like NY) helped to keep losses to a minimum. With the deer issue last year I learned my lesson to spray, spray and spray. It is a big expense but worth it to keep the deer away. Time to get outside and live head and see what blooms tomorrow and then come back to the forum and read the posts.

Kate: I find this look less maintenance believe it or not. i'm always looking for the next perennial to plant to work with daylilies and not strangle them.

I love the look of your perennials with the daylilies. I especially like photo where the purple bee balm is prominent. I also think the shot of ISLE OF PATMOS with EARTH AND ALL STARS looks wonderful!

I like your use of the color blue/lavender in the garden. It has a cooling effect and is a nice contrast with the hot oranges.
