Were these daylily pictures taken before the rain? They sure look crisp and clean.....So many are calling to me, but I think I will go with Mama Drama (that background doesn't hurt the presentation), Garry Bewyck, Dandy Dave and Jim's Song. I like "selfs" because they often blend better with the surrounding plants in a mixed display...,.....There are so many shades of orange, with so many different patterns and shapes, that I can't see a reason anyone would totally dismiss them.........And although I'm not into yellow/red combos I have to say those buds on Tiger By the Tail sure mean lots of blooms to come......Maryl

What a lovely post with so many that caught my eye. The Davissons always catch my attention, usually such good plants. Forsyth Frostbound has a pretty look. Dandy Dave and Purple Tarantula each have the look I like this year. I have Volcano Queen, love the look of the flowers, but so short.

Volcano Queen is a shorter one, but blooms above the foliage and early, which is welcome. Pictures are from other days. The rain hit already in early morning. And again today. What a waste! Tiger By the Tail is rather top budded.

Mama Drama with the mass of blooms in the background is striking. Heavenly Dark Matter here is entering first rebloom. You seem to have lots of buds on most. Not much bud drop?

Mama creates a lot of Drama with all those blooms surrounding her. All the Davissons look great. I liked the look of Jacob's Well so much that I had to look up info on that one. Changed in a Moment is also one that captured my attention. I'm glad to see Bill Norris thriving in your photo. So many people have gotten rid of it because it's old, but newer cultivars are hard pressed to beat its performance. Chico Tim is another one that stands out to me.

Kate, we have had ample rain, though June was a bit stingy after the floodgates of May. I do see some bud drop (caused by heat? dryness?) on a few cultivars, but not major. Bud count in general is higher, probably because rain in May is key here. There are exceptions.

Debra, Bill Norris is still one of the finest golds. Occasionally, has an off year here. It and Mary's Gold are classics. There are other nice golds too, but it isn't my favorite color.

Dandy Dave was a bonus when the cultivar ordered was pathetic. It made up for the ordered one, which died. Surprised that Dandy isn't better distributed, but I guess it's all about color and not cutting edge.
