You didn't tell us which direction the house faces. I'm betting that your seating area is against the house to provide afternoon shade.

I suggest you delete the long row of boxwood and have grass border the outer edge of the sidewalk.

What's your objective for the seating area. Do you want a little privacy there, or do you want to be able to say hi to the neighbors? If you want a little privacy, then you should arrange for some shrubs in front of this seating area. I think the center part of the arrangement looks good, but the part on the bedroom end to the left looks off to me. The reddish brown tree by the corner (possibly a Japanese maple?) Is the same color as the bricks and is practically invisible. I think you should have an evergreen at that corner and leave enough space for it to grow bigger. Then I would center the other plants beneath the bedroom windows.

I would do a couple of things: 1. allow for the walkway that is perpendicular to the house to cross over the boxwood hedge as an inviting gesture 2. to take advantage of that large brick wall to put some decor on it. The plantings are weak in the bed in front of the seating area and would be better with a small multi-stemmed tree

It looks to me like the plants are going to outgrow the space quickly.

Agree with Sigrid: landscapers often plant much more than necessary. More $$$, you know.
