Complete Bedroom Makeover

Looking to modernise & optimise storage space. See proposed mockups and inspo: https://www.pinterest.com.au/smileyk16/childhood-bedroom-makeover/

Adult just moved back into childhood bedroom. Makeover haul long overdue. New white carpet being laid next week, and painting happening this weekend. Also a person who hates changes & hangs onto a lot of things, but doing my best to hide or cull.

Most urgently, what colour to paint? Looking at one colour. Options:

Light beige
White or off-white
Keep pale pink

In terms of design, looking to replace ALL the furniture to whites & modern designs (goodbye Queen Anne/French Provincial). Also open to small vintage style desk in white and love the idea of an old lantern in place of a lamp, and maybe some other small vintage decor items to tie into the theme on my quilt. I do not want to replace the quilt (since it took me a year to find something I liked).

Pick your paint color from the quilt. Your woodwork/trim looks a tad beige and warm, so I would avoid trying to match that color or go too cool. What about a paler shade of the green leaves in your quilt? Instead of crowding in a desk, why not DIY a rolling bed desk? These are large versions but using one of them would open the desk area for your bookcase. Try corded wall sconce lights. I love this first idea to replace the bookcase if you can DIY.

Trying to avoid greens since most of the rest of the house is tea and apple green:

The darker greens in the quilt are closer to an olive / crocodile / pickle and brighter tones have a bit more yellow. Can't imagine that looking good and fear anything dark will make the room look smaller (one of the bedrooms is a dark blue).

The carpet is one the whitest we could find, unlike the cream it is now and the skirting boards have just been painted fresh white. The closet doors are pretty white, but the door and all the door frames are a cream/yellowed white rather than beige. Just bad photo and lighting.

As a writer who has trouble focusing, I'd really like my own desk space. Can't focus work on the bed.

I'm a writer too, so I get it. I have to be at my computer and often jump out of bed in the middle of the night to go to my office and write something before I forget. I'm looking forward to having a rolling be desk so all I have to do is pull it up from the foot of the bed and start writing!
