Very interesting post! I guess if I absolutely have to pick one of these, my choice would be number four. I know you are all in shock, lol! Why would I choose this one? Because I love great traditional design, especially when done correctly. That being said, I would have to change the legs to a Chippendale style, add nailhead trim around the arms, also add indentation to the flat roll of the arms, and pick a different fabric. I'm seeing a leather on this chair, and they say I'm a tad bit OCD! Actually, number three has a little more style to it, although it has homely legs on it as well. I take it back, I hate them all! What about a bean bag chair? I'm going with number five and number six. That would be bubblyjock and Keith respectively. Why? They have more style, and definitely have the fun factor going on, yeah, yeah, yeah!

#4, but in my case, a Chippendale leg, definitely not the ones shown. Wingback chairs have been around since the 1600's and have stood the test of time, evolving into other forms like the French bergere and modern Arne Jacobsen The Egg ( like #1 and the transitional #3.) I guess that's a bit like me; been around a long time, had several changing forms, and I'd like to think I'm still relevant.

I had TWO of the West Elm tulip chairs and LOVED them...you can even curl up in them or let your legs hang over one side. And gorgeous orangey honey color.

Here is my favorite. Modern & Classic.

I personally wouldn't choose any but if I had to, I'd pick #1 hands down.

None really reflect my style, but I'd have to sit in them to know, because I rate comfort over everything else. I'm afraid the chair I sit in 99% of the time is a swivel secretary chair that supports my lower back and makes me sit up straight and allows me to turn or scoot from the computer to dinner or to watching tv. I want it to be nice to look at, but comfort and practicality trump all else.

Being over 50...and everything hurts...I need something with some meat & support.
It needs to have a shallow seat pan...strong back and arms (because I don't!) and sit fairly low. At 5'0", I need a chair that truly fits ME....not a 6'3 guy.

I think the closest match would be that Stickley chair that feeney posted.
