Need new sod advice

Just moved in in south jersey. Previous owners left a big sandy pit where there above ground pool was. We had the sand/rock removed and new sod put down - right before a week of daily near-100 temps 😬. With each summer rainstorm, the new sod has flooded and seems to be getting worse. Is there any hope? Should I give up and have it redone in the fall?
