Thanks guys. I plan to let them all grow so that they grow with tightly spaced leaf nodes.

Many woody species are predisposed to developing adventitious buds at wound sites. Adventitious buds are those which do not occur where expected (in leaf axils); instead, they usually shoot from phloem parenchyma near the vascular cambium.

If you allow them all to grow, you'll end up with a massive swelling of the trunk in the immediate vicinity of the shoots. .... not trying to talk you out of it, just letting you know what to expect.

Like Al said, letting all of the new buds grow will lead to a large swelling at the cut point. Each new branch will feed into a single point causing to it swell. Similar to "pollarding" effect. Some like it but in bonsai world that will be considered very undesirable feature.I have been victim of that several times myself. I remove the weak ones quickly. Initially, I leave a 2-4 to grow for a while to help in the healing of the wound. Then I prune again (or remember to do it) to leave 1-2 strongly growing ones.

That is what I have in mind. These trees can't really go outside without extreme protection. This will be my potted Christmas bush.
