Landscaping

We would like to landscape our front yard but we do not get much light. There is a huge Magnolia tree in the middle of the yard that blocks 99% of our sunlight and its roots spread throughout the yard, coming up in some areas. What are suggestions for easy plants that LOVE the shade? We are thinking azaleas, ferns?

Where are you located? Your climate will have a big impact on what plants will grow and thrive in that location.

Magnolias send up suckers that are very annoying but you have to keep them cut off or you'll have a forest. Azaleas are a good idea as they favor shade, especially in warm climates but there are many other shade loving plants as well. Can you make a photo of your yard from the balcony looking outward and another shot with the house centered and showing both sides ?
