Water softner discharge

We are thinking about adding softner to well water system. Have been advised not to discharge water into septic. How else could this be logically done? Have not decided on brand yet. With 2 people visitor or a few once a month once a month with 100gl waste. Thanks

I believe many just route their backwash to a dry well. It could be just a hole filled with larger rocks wrapped with geotextile fabric to keep soil out. I think mine just goes out to a pipe in a gravelled trench
