'Tajique' . . . Because we learned about it here . . .

Many of you are familiar now with 'Mel's Heritage' . . . A wonderful climbing rose, created by Paul Barden . . .

Yet, none of us knew about 'Tajique' . . . A sister seedling to 'Mel's Heritage', until Paul told us about it here.

'Tajique' is a small shrub, and the color is lighter, but the foliage is identical, and lovely. It's been growing here in a pot, and I thought you might like to see the blooms.

Opened yesterday:

I love the way it catches the light . . .

The same bloom, this morning . . .

And another bloom, opened this morning, surrounded by buds:

So . . . That's 'Tajique'!

It is in my mind that Paul said he could make a few plants available. Otherwise, not in commerce as yet.

I think Paul indicated that it would be a bush of maybe 3-4 ft.? Kim? Do you recall?

Jackie, the blooms are small. Similar in size to blooms of 'Mel's Heritage', and I can clearly see that it is also going to bloom in lovely clusters.

I suspect that, as a mature plant, it will be d*mned near continuous blooming. And with foliage this lovely, d(mned near irresistible.

From how it performs here compared to your photos, I will add that it prefers warmth to chilly/damp.

OK. And I suspect that, once it gets going, I'd expect it to be somewhere in the 36=inch range, and pleasantly bushy. Of course, this plant is a LONG way from that . . . But it shares the determination of 'Mel's Heritage' to bloom and bloom.

At least -- in my conditions. :-)

What a beautiful bloom, Jeri! Thank you for sharing the photo. I love the color and star puff form. My tiny baby is still building roots in its ”squirrel proofed” pot. I check on it so many times a day that I’ve lost count. Carol
