I like this plant but many do not. If not promptly deadheaded it will reseed all over the garden. It comes in white as well.

Pretty easy to cut off the inflorescence after it finishes blooming, before seeds fall off. If spotted in NJ, it was found in native habitat.

Great Blue Lobelia is a quite showy native wildflower.

Tiffany, that may be because I said nothing about deadheading it. I don't do that in my garden - unless I want to spread the seeds around myself before they get eaten.

It sounds like you have a comfortable relationship with it. : ) I had some once in OH. It was pretty. Long time ago, I don't think there were sprouts, but couldn't say for sure by now. It would have been my style @ the time to deadhead.

as to the title.. all weeds are plants ... perhaps you are asking value ... garden value ... weed or worthwhile plants ..

anyway.. highly aggressive reseeders are weeds in my world.. and sooner or later.. you end up getting rid of them because of the reseeding problem..

so why not cut the loop and just do it now... looks like you have a week or so to decide ..

The plant is flowering in the photo. But it’s only just starting, so not many are open.

In full bloom it is a large deep blue spike. Can't miss it. They are not in bloom on the mountain top yet. Later blooming flowers are a plus in a good garden.
