Hi! I inherited a vanity that originally belonged to my 2x great aunt, though she unlikely bought it new. I don't know the age of the piece but would like restore it to livability status as a desk for my daughter. (I just won't put the mirror on it at this stage.)
I've researched for the care of the finish and water marks, but I'm not sure how to best take care of the hole in the bottom of the table or the crack in the drawer. I have no woodworking tools or practice, but I can follow instructions if someone can provide guidance.
The drawer for the left side (which has no crack) sticks on the left. Should I sand the drawer or the drawer slot?
Last question - the locking mechanism that is completely smooth does not work at all, but the one that appears to be missing the top, works. I don't care to get this fixed, but was just curious why this might be. The smooth one is so smooth, though I can feel the bumps for the screws. It's just odd to me is all.
