Does Repels All work better than Liquid Fence?

Seedlings look very good. Too bad about the deer but hopefully the spray works to keep them away. I haven't sprayed here in weeks but the deer appear to be feasting on the wild berries and leaves on low hanging trees along the one side of the property. How did you do with your seed harvesting this year?

The seedlings do look good. Glad you got to see the second one as it appears to be promising-in looks, anyway! Also good to see rebloom on the SCFB seedling.

I have nibblers on my foliage now but I think it is rabbits as there are scapes with buds on the same plants that are untouched. Deer would have eaten those buds first.

Kate - I do think #2 is a good looking seedling, and I'm glad to know it reblooms. It's starting out with only 7 buds, but bud counts this year are no indicator of future performance. I've got some rabbits here too, but they mostly seem to be nibbling on emerging new baby fans.

Julia - I had the fewest seed pods I've ever collected, and most of them had only two or three seeds. The heat and lack of rain kept them from developing more. It was very disappointing not to be able to hybridize with the many new plants I've bought in the past three years since I bought them expressly for hybridizing reasons. Most of the seed crosses that did make it were done with extra early patterned daylilies.

Mantis - I've never used Liquid Fence. The best thing I've tried is a product call Deer Out, which I bought online. It has an oil in it that causes the product to stay on through several rains. But I was out of that and had a little Repels All left in a bottle. The smell of it is horrible -intense garlic mixed with mint. It almost keeps ME out of the garden. Repels All really works well on keeping rabbits and groundhogs away from my plants, and the deer for the time it stays on.

Sherry - I really like #4. The bloom has a lot going in with it. I like the edge, the patterned sepals, the little darts that come out of the throat into the eye, the colors and the shape. I've got a lot of pretty seedlings from the cross of White Tooth and Skater. I hope at least a couple of them will develop better bud counts next year. #4 is among my top four favorites out of 11 siblings.

Kay - Both of the seedlings you like rebloom, so that makes them winners in my book.

Brad - Last Chance for Romance is a great one for the late season. I'm thinking about eliminating some other "late" cultivars that aren't really late bloomers in my garden. I've already moved one out.
