Try 4000K in both areas. 5000 seems a little too bright and sterile, IMO.

Use a dimmer switch for each area to set the output as needed.

The dimmer won't solve the problem of the color difference of the light output for LEDs, unless you get the LEDs that dim to warm (Phillips has them, don't know about others). Personally, the color difference would drive me bonkers, even 3000 and 4000 together, the difference is obvious.

I have all LED 4000K in my house and once my hubby picked up a bulb in 3000K it was really yellow I love 4000K but not 5000 so try all 4000K and see what you think I will sya it takes maybe 2 days to get used to the no yellow if you have had incandecsent lighting before .
