Pumpkins not growing

Throughout the summer I have had many big male flowers. The last week I have had two large marble sized pumpkins form with a flower bud at the end. In both, the flower at the end of the small pumpkin never opened and the pumpkin turned yellow and fell off. Anyone know why?

The female flowers were not pollinated.

How can the female flower get pollinated if it does not open?

Sorry....missed that the flowers never opened. That is usually attributed to environmental stress. Excessively hot temps or too much rain and/or overhead watering can cause the very heavy pollen not to develop properly and the blossoms abort.

Other than backing off on any watering, there's not much you can do. You can't control the weather.
