Kitchen Lighting Layout, any suggestions?

last modified: 4 years ago

We are currently redoing our kitchen lighting and I am trying to determine a good lighting layout. Reading online I have come across very conflicting placement practices and figured I would reach out on here.

Currently there are (3) 6" Lights that are installed and aligned on center edge of counter top running along left side of kitchen and (2) 4" lights centered over peninsula. But I am at a complete loss on where to add additional lighting near the fridge/pantry area. Should I just keep to a grid format and add (2) more 6" lights, one in front of pantry and another by fridge?

Possibly another centered in front of the laundry closet?

I am using 6" & 4" LED wafer lights throughout so placement is not a concern for joists. And there will also be under cabinet task lighting on the left side of the kitchen. Currently setup with a 3 way controlling main 6" lights and separate switches for both peninsula and sink lighting. Wiring is exposed so I am not locked in yet on anything.

Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank You!
