First deal with decluttering it seems like you need staorage so what is the big wood cabinet with the double doors ? I need a bit more info but right now paint will not help this space . Aslo a to scale plan with all measurements clearly marked will help.

I am not a pro, but I think the room itself is too chopped up to handle stripes nicely.

No stripe please. Take all of the colors in the room into consideration - a cream wall color will help the warm tile, wood doors and black appliances relate better, but leaving the upper cabinets, utility sink, folding table stark white is going to create some gong notes. Consider a warm color (a warm, light gray?) for the upper cabinets and maybe even paint the exterior of the tub if you can't build a faux cabinet around it. Colors in your rug, adding some artwork, and a new light fixture will help tie everything together too.

It looks like you can barely open the left closet door because the metal shelving and wash tower depth are obstructing the swing, and the right door may have limited radius because of the white shelf. If that's the case, scoot the tower closer to the sink and remove the metal shelving unit entirely. If the white shelf across from the tower isn't on a hinge, modify it so it can be lowered.

All of the loose, household supplies in plastic containers on top of the cabinets, on the floor, and on open shelves are making the room feel smaller and the bright colors detracting from your beautiful wood doors - placing them in the closet will be an instant refresh. Stow the vacuum in there too, get the laundry basket out of the doorway, the room will feel much larger.

I think your laundry room is nice. The wood door is beautiful and so is that wood cabinet. Also - obviously, this a working space... I.e. a laundry room. So imo it is fine to have evidence of real life in the space.

As far as the stripes for the wall: it is your space; so if you want stripes, do stripes. My personal take on it would be to keep the walls all one color for a calmer feel in the space. I might just bring in a plant or two to add some green(ery).

Here I used PPG Slate Pebble on the walls. BM Edgecomb Gray could be another color to look at/sample.

How about you paint the ceiling and bring in a cool light?

I don't know what deep color you wanted, so I just picked this one. bring in a semi flush school house light, or this larger Bergamot. (I actually have this one and love it. gives off great light w/LED bulbs).

if you're handy, get some plain beadboard and stain it to match the wood doors.

Also, notice this folding table w/drawers and open shelf beneath.

I would really suggest you look at making this room easier to work in w/more storage.

have you looked at 'small laundry rooms with stackables' to get ideas what you can do?

if you want to decorate something, what if you moved the cabs to the other side, did some shelves above your sink and then you could tile, wallpaper, or even paint w/a stencil.

(and see if you can find a used cast iron sink. I just replaced a sink like you have w/one of those vintage cast iron ones. so much nicer)

Or, look for a used sink cabinet, (oak are cheap) Paint it, add a sink to it, voila, more storage. (and enclose the stackables so they look like this

You could even raise your cabs a tad, do some shelves over the sink and put your detergent on those. build a unti surround (or buy one) like shown so it hides all the stuff behind it, and gives you some other storage on top.

The chrome shelving on the side of the units? you can find something much more useful, and better looking. take a look at all of these pics to see what would work best for you

for example, just doing something like this unit would give you so much more room. these are closet storage items, I believe, and aren't that expensive. if you guys can DIY, you can also make your own.

or, something like this cab w/the rod across (although I think the other side is better)

is that a folding table? Ditto for that too. much better upgrade. rod for hanging. tile if you want some decor. more upper storage.

this really isn't that difficult to do. you could even look for used oak cabinets, remove the doors, paint inside and out, join them together and top w/a remnant.

I'd look for remnants of granite or quartz (you can find these for as little as $50)

Then I'd bring in some open shelving above it plus a hanging rod for drying and hanging clothes.

you don't need the seated area, but just some ideas on what you can do to maximise storage and look good.

You can paint that tile floor any color, any design you want.

I wouldn't paint. Instead, I'd move washer and dryer tight against the wall to its right and place the hamper on the left between the sink and washer and dryer. Then install shelves to fit between the washer and dryer and closet doors.
