Small evergreen next to the rr track

This was a total surprise, growing next to the rr track in the middle of RV track

. About 20cm, 8" tall. It is unlike anything growing in the vicinity. Does not have any aroma I can detect.

I think I'll take it home with me.

It looks alittle odd color for a VA juniper, but maybe because of its tough situation. Anyway, it's definitely a juniper of some sort.

Vehicles driving over it have keep it short and full. I think it might be some form of Juniper, but I'm not sure because it's been kept so dense.

I'm glad your rescuing it. It will be nice to see how it grows.

the most hated.. by me anyway.. invasive juniper in MI is juniperous virginiana ..

as you travel the highways and byways of MI.. you see them EVERYWHERE the grass isnt mowed ...

i would also blame the RR on its shape and form ...

btw.. down south.. i belive its the basis of cedar fence rails and poles.. as well as cedar mulch .... so one mans near invasive.. is another woman cash crop.. go figure ...

Ugh! Ken. If you're right, this is the native evergreen from hell. I usually slew them when I see them.

@party_music50 The tree can be lovely on its own in the wild. The problem is that is doesn't stay on its own. They are a great wildlife tree (shelter, food), but in a controlled landscape, about the time they're big enough to make an impact they become problematic. As soon as they reach maturity, they set thousands (millions??) of seeds, which the birds love. Soon seedlings are everywhere. They can be a real nuisance in a garden setting. However, I happen to love them. Since I live on a farm, I have them whether I want them or not, I just have to weed the seedlings out of my garden beds. They *can* be kept under control, but they DO have to be controlled. I appreciate their beauty, but just in my hedgerows and not my garden, lol.

It doesn't look like its been whacked on top of the head for years on end does it. I mean it should show fraying in spots. Its true height should be around 4' or more.

A long time ago, before I knew any better, I had two of cedars growing in my front yard. Next door neighbor was starting some apple trees. One year in Spring, I noticed the cedars were missing-cut down right at the ground level. I didn't say anything about it.
