Your GE dryer has at least two dryer drum rollers to support the drum as it rotates. With time, these rollers can wear out and a loud thumping sound typically results. When this occurs the roller needs to be replaced. Even if just one of the rollers is worn we suggest replacing all of them at the same time.

GFD is not a full model number. The full number is needed from the model/serial plate affixed to the machine to look up parts diagrams, there may be variations among models within the "GFD" line.

There is also an idler/tension pulley assembly for the belt. The pulley typically is plastic and may break/crack or the bearings on it fail. The drum support slides or bearing (need the diagrams to confirm the design) may also be involved in an unhealthy noise situation.
