The first thing I always did in my own offices was to add floor, table and desk lamps. Turning off those overhead lights and turning on warm daylight LEDs will immediately make the office more inviting. What clients do you see here? Do they sit in that straight chair in front of the desk? It doesn't look comfortable, so how necessary is it? Do you need all the pieces of office furniture? It looks random and mis-matched. What is the white thing? How do you use the TV and why is it hung so high? Can you bring in some art?

The white thing is for documents to be shredded...it also has to stay.

I don't use the TV but it's for when I need to cast my computer screen for presentations.

How many times a day to you wheel around to use the shredder and the tall part of the system that is behind the desk/chair in the photos? Perhaps furniture that is only part of a once a day routine could be distanced from the desk/chair a bit. Is that possible?

I would assess my daily “needs” and get those arranged for ease of use. If the tall unit on back wall could be moved, I would put it on short opposite wall beside door. Then when you enter room that isn’t the focal point. Big art could be placed on that wall. Then desk could slide back a couple feet to provide room for guest chair. While I love that sofa, it’s really out of place in this space. Functionally, I would rather have two guest chairs. Better lighting would be great.

Try flipping the desk so the middle faces the wall where the small chair currently sits. Move the sofa to where the small chair is, and place the small chair in the corner, near the tv. The shredder can go under the window. Then, add lamps to the desk, a large piece of art on the back wall behind the desk, and a gallery art wall over the sofa.

Lighting and art . Are comfortable working with the seak in that position? IMO you fin the spot for the desk that is right and then everything else for how you use it. I always plalce my desk first .

I don't know anything about your business, but the first thing that screamed at me was the giant blank calendar on the wall. This belongs on your computer. Then I noticed the calculator - also available on your computer.

It was hard, but a few years ago our company removed all the print drivers from our computers. You learn to go paperless. Files are all in my computer, not on my desk. Shredder was moved to my basement.

Can the sticker on the front of the shred collector be removed.

Think about how you would decorate a home and try to mimic that in your office space.

They gave you a crappy chair that no one else wanted in their office - usually you can convince the company to remove something totally useless. If it is used by staff for trainings it needs to be another office chair on wheels that is appropriate for the task for which it is used.

If you can't get rid of the chair push it off into a corner and still get another decent office chair for your staff. They will appreciate it.

You say the TV is to cast presentations. . . to whom? where is the audience seated?

I might move the tall piece on the back wall to the TV wall in the corner, move the desk back, place the sofa on the wall in front of the desk and then if giving a presentation I could be sitting at the desk, facing my audience and they could be viewing the presentation on the tv screen behind me. Haven't done an inhouse presentation in years and years - everything can now be streamed and presented in Teams or other meeting software.

Seems that the company may be stuck in the 90s and not progressing with technology. That would worry me.

Decide on a color scheme and look for prints for long wall and one large piece on wall where chair is. Scenery is always a good choice for an office. Change cushions, add a lamp, and fake greenery and you’ll create an inviting, chic space.

I work at a construction company that does tenant finish out, so I created the "pro" account, but I am an accountant. No imagination and very high in logic, which is why I am ask the real pros for help here 💗

They did let me remove the big white shredder box to a common area!!!

I swapped out the couch pillows for turquoise and white, added a pink lamp, and hung a gold framed mirror 😬🙄 pics to follow.

But where oh where does the desk belong??? The middle piece is swappable as well as the "built in" drawers, but not easily. So one move is preferred. I'd like to make it seem open and approachable, yet keep my screens hidden from the casual sofa visiter. Then easy to see on the TV, preferably without having to rehang that big heavy thing, when I want to share data, such as payroll. Also, I think they put it that high so when you sit on the sofa there's no chance of hitting your head.

I've tried a few art pieces, but none of them seem to be the right fit for me. I want to encourage kindness and also not distract myself with something too abstract.

Not sure I love it, but plan to hang the big pic behind the chair, next to the door. Then get another of those mirrors and hang both of them by the chains on the wall it's leaning on, idk about the other pic 🤔…that's more what I like, but it doesn't really go. The pink thing on the desk is a lamp, but that is NOT the right spot for it. Idk if I should get a basic gold and marble side table in the corner by the sofa or something else and return that lamp.

Seeing as how you don't have any windows or any natural light, how about finding some photos or paintings of picturesque outdoor scenes? Cliche? maybe, but they can help with the static look of the office.

Imo, mirrors don't belong in an office. The soft aqua pillows are nice.... I had saved this wallpaper -- it can be applied and simply framed, and hung like a mural.

As er612 mentioned, your pillows need to work with your carpet. I love these nature colors, and I feel it is very important to bring in a sense of nature when you are in a room with no windows. Mirrors should be used very discriminately. They are best used to reflect something beautiful.
