It would be helpful to know a little bit more about what you like. I would use a very plain granular quartz with no discernible pattern at all, and probably off white, but there are a number of plain colors available.

If you want granite, I would also look at something pretty plain, but that would probably be a dark grey or black most commonly, which would be an entirely different look.

Our first idea was sparkling black quartz or galaxy granite, but most of our friends said it is terrible idea.

I would look at something like Cygnus Pearl quartz (off white) or Virginia Mist or Absolute Black granite if you want black (plain no sparkles)

No sparkles and as plain as possible with that very busy cabinet choice and floors . Too bad too that you did not come here before design was done. I might look for a nice black soapstone with verly little movement or black absolute granite .

Let's see that dishwasher door clear that cabinet door please.

Have you considered Corian? Lots of positive input about it here on Houzz. Definitely needs a simple, clean look that doesn't add to the busy patterns. You'd do well to read through this link.

I'd at least look at soapstone.

Dishwasher door have almost 2 inches clearance so we should be fine. Why no sparkles, they are barely noticeable and we like it...

MSI has some grays that include variation you may like. Backsplashes are shown. You can run the counter material up as a backsplash. Meridian Gray Quartz - Q™ Premium Quartz - MSI Quartz (msisurfaces.com)

Here's one with sparkles. Stellar Grey Quartz - Q™ Premium Quartz - MSI Quartz (msisurfaces.com)

I agree I would look at Soapstone too. But I would try to get one without much going on. I have Corian in my bathrooms and I like it. I am concerned about heat resistance in kitchens, because people have gotten so used to having something a little more heat resistant than Formica or Corian.

I don't know what your budget is, but I am looking at stainless steel with integrated sink for my kitchen and the pricing is no more than the higher level granites or quartzes.
