Looking at your countertop and flooring colors I would recommend a Sherwin Williams color called Dover White for the cabinets. this will lighten your room and still blend well with your floor and countertops. The walls I would bring in a little pop of color to give the room some energy. Something like Evergreen Fog by Sherwin Williams or a lighter shade of that color.

To me, the most outdated thing in the kitchen is the small mosaic backsplash. Professionally repainting the cabinets would probably be more expensive than changing the backsplash. New, more modern seating is also easy and inexpensive. I’d also remove the window curtain. I know that’s not an answer to your question, but something to consider.

I would do something close to this image. Choose a soft white backsplash, then choose a soft white paint for your uppers only (easier to find a tile first, paint comes in every color), and paint the walls and trim (and the dark brown doors) the same color. This is all DIY if you want to put the effort and time in (I have done it). It will keep your cost down. Choose the island light once everything else is done. You might want something with contrast that centers the space. Why the curtain?

Paint the cabinets in a creamy color from the counter top. Replace the backsplash with a tile that picks up the darker tone from the countertop. Add LEDs under the uppers. Shop for new pendants once those two tasks are completed, unless you decide to paint the ceiling.

The cabinets aren't bad. The warm tones of your cabinets, countertops, and doors and trim work well together. But they don't mesh well with the cool white walls. Paint the walls a softer white, or a muted green or blue. Agree on updating the backsplash too if you can afford it. Much cheaper and easier than painting cabinets.

The floors and counters are great. The backsplash is not great and is the least expensive thing to change, so I agree with the other posters who suggested changing it. If the kitchen suits you as far as the cabinet style and layout, and the interiors are in good shape, then painting is a good idea. As other posters have mentioned, don't use a white-white as it won't go with the other elements in the room. Be sure to paint them in the recommended manner (lots of prep and using paint designed for this purpose), as a bad paint job would be much less attractive than what you have now.

If you need something on that window because you're looking at the neighbors, just get something that fits the window better. A sheer cellular shade for example if you still want some light to get in. A patterned roman shade could add some color if you're OK with a window treatment that is either up or down with no middle ground.
