Could be a number of reasons - poorly developed or compromised root system; rootball was not well hydrated at planting and has become hydrophobic; water penetration or drainage differs between the two planting sites; delayed evidence of nursery maltreatment or neglect.........

What gal said. For starters, dig 4-6 inches into the original rootball and feel if its damp. When did you plant them and where are you located?
