The only Ajuga I am familiar with is A reptans which needs cool, reliably damp conditions and dappled sunlight. Unless you are considering a different species, I would think Ajuga entirely unsuitable for your conditions.

Catlin’s Giant is a cultivar of Ajuga reptans, so it is definitely totally unsuited to your situation.
